Group 1, I've cleaned up our page and added our links to the site index...
All groups, looks like things are starting to come together...please make sure to reflect what you have done on your page with the Site Index
Thanks,
Janine
Tonight we can discuss a plan for categorizing our links. We should come up with a list of categories as we go and then some format for listing the name of the site, URL and a description. We can also utilize the folder capabilities. Perhaps we want to use folders in our organizational structure?
Janine
This is looking absolutely wonderful folks. I love the simplicity and ease of navigation and understanding. I'm looking forward to figuring out how we want to organize our resources and start filling in each of our new pages. Great work! ~Anne
The new graphics definitely give it a kid-friendly feel...the others would probably have been more appropriate for a middle-school or high-school audience so thanks for finding some fun stuff! So lets change the wording, too...what do you think of the changes I've made?
Janine
I love the new layout!!! - Jason, I changed your logos to maybe more elementary-friendly ones?? Feel free to change back.... I do think the terms "peers" "collaborate" "reliable" and "create" are kind of adult -speak. What kid-friendly words can we perhaps substitute? How about "classmates", "put ideas together", "dependable", and "build"? Or maybe we need to get more basic explanations below, or assume explanation will be provided at some point - I know my 3rd graders wouldn't understand the vocabulary as it is, but that's easily rectified. Also we'll need to interpret and differentiate the words "sources" and "resources". I'd like to see the the backgrounds of the pages more colorful, anyone know how? The "spill paint" function doesn't work well once there's text.. Very nice work, everyone!
Laura Y.
Yes...I think color codingour different sections and keeping consistent w/ icons will help students find what they need. What do you all think of the color-scheme and icons?
In addition, we need to come up with categories for our headings on each page: Connect, Find, and Create, so that we can organize links according to their purpose. We also need to have a taggingcommittee to go around tagging our pages with heading and content terms so that our site will be searchable!

This is looking just great. I like the clipart you used, Jason. I just changed the colors to see what that could be like. Would the Parents/Teachers/Administrators be in a side bar like this wiki?

Yes. Visual. If we could have a simple chart on this front page with color-coded categories and some simple, yet helpful clip-art, we'd be on a roll! I also think our focus should be mostly on resources for students with the parent and teacher links off to the side so that they don't distract our young students from what they are searching for.
We could have 3 categories: Listen (push technology), Find (resources), Create (tools)...here's just an idea...we could dress it up a bit...they would all be links to different pages.
Janine-------------------I was mulling over the age of the students we're targeting and thinking of something very similar. I like!---jason

I think that, because this is for the elementary school level, we should try to have our front page less busy than Joyce's. Less choices, more to-the-point, but colorful and attractive as Laura Y. says. Also, most people at my school think that learning a PowerPoint presentation is "all that," so we also need to remember that most of us aren't super literate in these areas!

I also think we should try to make this wiki as interactive as possible...where students, teachers, parents feel they can participate and contribute.

At this point, we need to organize our ideas for how we want to organize our resources and bring them into the blog. I have a feeling that we will need to re-categorize some of the links and define our categories so that it is clearer as to what goes where...but for now, great work!
Janine
Hi All,
So, I assume that we are supposed to use this wiki to compile our ideas and then the blog will be a more "polished" product as we transfer our ideas over?
In the sidebar, you can click on "view all pages" and then pick the one that best fits the category for your contribution. New pages are always welcome for additional categories. When you are viewing the page you want to add to, click "edit," make your additions with your name, and save your work! Can't wait to see what fun we will have, here in the wiki!
Wiki etticuit: No lock-stealing. Keep in mind, if someone is currently working on the page that you would like to edit, don't steal the lock, just copy and paste the section you want to edit into a word doc, edit it and then paste it into the page when the other person is finished making their edits. Alternatively, you can browse the rest of the wiki and make edits to another page while you wait.

This looks great!
We can use the folders as a sample of who is on our collaborative team.

Hi all,
I'm away for the long weekend w/ spotty internet (if I'm lucky!). So will move up and organize my links within the site index on Monday. Are we meeting in the elementary room on Elluminate at 6pm again?
Nice work on this site everyone - thanks!
Barbara
